But I found a xl350 for 50 bucks but the motor doesn't have a vin number but the frame does, I was wondering if anyone has ever seen something like that? An if its worth the effort to try an get a title an get it registered
I looked were it should have been stamped with a serial numbe, but its just blank most older Hondas has it on the left side of the case that's how my cl an cb have them ,but this one is just blank were the serial # should be like it was never stamped on ?
That's what i was thinking that it got replaced but I just don't want to take it to chp an have them take it away cus it doesn't have a vin on the motor cus it doesn't have any paperwork?
You need to check your local laws. Here in PA I could roll in with a CB750 that I shoehorned a Harley engine into and as long as my paperwork matches that VIN on the frame, were gravy.
+1 on the case replacement... XL350's have a nice case saver that people for whatever reason would toss and then blow a hole in the cases with a cheap chain breaking or the shifter gets snagged on a tree and rips the bottom out. I think the numbers are the same as the frame but last two numbers.
Ya the bike was missing the bash plate up front an the case is just blank. An I'm sure it was ridden hard aswell cus it had all its lights removed an has a has a fiber glass tank an a high exhaust pipe
If the cam and top end are good thats $100 bill
Gas tank is probably $60-80
Even that ratty seat could be $100 bill
Clean up that exhaust and paint it with BBq paint Boom another hundo
And dont forget that back tire!
Prob get $40 for the fenders
If the head and cam are good... they are worth $200 alone, the side draft heads are flat track favorites, if you can get it for $50 I would give the $50 back to you and pay shipping for the motor. The aluminum wheels are worth another $30-50 each, I guess that tire is special ED if it's worth $100... hell a days tinkering and you could make a few bucks
