I just went parts buying crazy! Did I miss anything?

Been Around the Block
In the past few days I have purchased the following for my CB350:

Carburetors
Dyna Coils and Wires
PAMCO Electronic Ignition
Rick's High Output Stator Kit with R/R
Low Profile Seat
Uni Filters

I still plan to get a stainless bolt kit, new gaskets, tail light and turn signals, and a few other items.

I am going to cry when I see my bill on all this......but will be so happy when it arrives! ;D

Fork Seals
Triple tree bearing kit
and you didn't mention anything about tires. No point getting a bike read to be a day runner and you got old cracked rubber ready to blow off at the first turn.

Good ideas.

She already has brand new tires and fork seals. Not sure on the triple tree bearing, but I can pull it apart to see.

A chain is on the list as well.

If you order a chain, you may as well order new sprockets. They wear as a set. Putti g a new chain on old sprockets will wear it out quickly.

Good call, Now that you all mention it my chain isn't all that bad, but I saw some play in the rear sprocket. I think it must have been a little worn out and had a chain put on, but not a sprocket. Does anyone sell a sprocket, tensioner, chain kit that you all prefer? Or is it all the same? I'll do my research, just curious for opinions. Yes I'm sure the bushings wouldn't be a bad idea either.

How hard is it to change the cam chain tensioner? I'm new to the CB350. I'm searching the forum now on it.

Forgive my ignorance, but are you all talking about changing out this part?

Ok got it, you unbolt the tensioner with 4 bolts, then the sprocket and arm flip out. Sound correct? Been working on cars my whole life, new to bikes.

yeah the original tensioner wheel is just a rubber wheel that has been known to fail. there are places you can source a metal sprocket though to replace it. unfortunately not cheap. mine came from Italy.

Can you remove that rubber wheel from here? or do you need to do more to get it out? Pic is not my bike, just one I found online

You'll have to have the whole thing out to replace it. i believe it's a type of collared pin holding it in. replacement should look like this.

Can you link me to some material or explain to me how you get the whole thing out? I'm running on a few hours of sleep and my brain is not thinking clearly. I am sure tomorrow I'll be like ohhhh I get it now lol.

they get into it here http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=414703&page=2
but you do have to tear apart the top end to get to it.

Ok thanks that was what I needed to hear. I can think a little more clearly now after a few hours of sleep. What I will do is pull the tensioner off and inspect the wheel. With any luck it may have been already done. The motor on my bike is not the original, it's like a 72' or 73' on my 71' frame. I'd hope if someone swapped the motor they did this while it was out. Thanks again

wheel bearings, brake pads and cables...if nothing else at least be safe. And all pretty inexpensive.
