I need a mirror that does not suck

Trying to find an original idea for a mirror. Mirrors are pretty fukcin boring. Looking for something early (last) century. Brass is really awesome. Doesn't need a perfect motorcycle mount, just something I can work with.

Why not get a piece of brass, and polish the bejesus out of it? Ancient man made mirror from brass, modern man must be able to...

The way i would go about it is work your way in steps using finer and finer sand paper then at your finest start wet sanding, and wet sand until you hate yourself. Then get your self some HIGH quality rubbing, buffing, polishing, and finishing compounds coupled with a few different buffing/polishing/finishing wheels on an adjustable high RPM grinder and just put hours into it until you can get the highest reflectivity you have the paitence This will be the cheapest way rather than having something custom made.you may have to repolish it up every now and then. But the bragging rights of saying you made your own custom mirror?! Priceless. Plus when someone walks up and says how bad ass your custom brass mirror is tell them you can make them a custom brass mirror and charge them out the wazooo

The othe way would be to find something old you like the shape of etc and have a piece of mirror cut to fit it at an Autoglass shop. They can usually cut you a mirror in whatever shape you need. Glue it on/in the piece and you have a mirror nobody else has.

+1. Anyone with a ring saw can cut it to shape, so any glass workers, stained glass shops, etc, etc.

AW: I need a mirror that does not suck

i have a brass workshop and the problem that it will blur very very fast.even trying to clear paint the polished surface will chip after some time.
brass is a 'living' material and patinates its surface after a certain period of time depending on climate and air pollution.

why dont you cut a alum cylinder in half and use the thick part of the wall polished as a mirror,or a flat grinded piston....etc etc.

Having served in the Navy, I can attest to Ryan's comment. I've polished quite a bit of brass over and over and over and over... Nevr Dull helps it hold luster, but still not long term.

A polished piston could be cool

grinding flat the top of that sucker and polishing it would look rad.def never seen that.

big block bore of course :))

Would be kinda cool. I enjoy polishing, so that's no problem, but I'm pretty fond of a nice clear glass mirror as well. I like the old tri-bar fender mirrors, but can't find one in brass..

What about a vintage Talbot mirror like they ran on the Rennsport and Martini cars? They were chromed brass.
