I need a small battery

Doc.

Been Around the Block
Hey guys,

I think my battery is done. I want buy a new battery, but do they make smaller batteries with same amount of power? I want to keep my electric starter and everything, and all my lights, and i want to make sure the battery is powerful enough to supply juice to all. And i want it smaller because later down the road i'm going to try to hide it somewhere, especially if i got Pods. The bike is a '73 CB350 Twin.

Thanks guys!

Nowadays you can get agm style (glass mat), batteries that are much smaller in size than the lead acid type
they also generally pack more punch too as do the gel batteries they can also be placed at any angle as they are sealed.
I dont know where you are so cant suggest anywhere, unless you are in Australia I have a great mail order supplier here who is dirt cheap.

check out interstate batteries equal to the yuasa ytx7s battery 130cca pretty small battery i run one in my hawk and have no problems with it

Rock into your nearest local battery shop and ask for the smallest amp-hour rated 12v battery they have. Make sure they deal exclusively in them, it helps. If they want to know what its for say you race your bike but also ride it on the street, so want to save weight but still retain some usability.

I replaced my 12v 9Ah battery with a 3Ah one. The links below will give you an idea of exactly what you'd be dealing with. The cost to me was free because it was sulphated and they wanted rid of it, but the list price was AU$32. Should be less in US$ by a decent amount. Item code was YB3L-A or YB3L-B depending on terminal arrangement.

So, big size difference. Also a weight saving in the region of 3.5 pounds. Didn't find any considerable difference in starter willingness, either, and the electrical system likes the new battery fine. Verdict? Get one; they're cheap, small, light and they work.

Cheers - boingk
