I want to hide my battery

I have 75 scrambler cl360, I would like to clean it up and hide the battery. I have to buy a new battery and I am still building my seat, so I figure now is the best time to do this. What battery should I get and will I need to get longer cables from the parts store. I will post some pics up tomorrow of what I have so far.

If you're willing to shell out the cash, a LiFePo battery is much smaller than the stocker, and lighter, and could be hidden just between the frame rails themselves. They can be over $100-150, though. If you're going to hide it under the seat bump, you will likely have to lengthen your cables.

Yeah, I dont want to put that kind of money into a battery. Will a stocker be safe laying on its side under the seat hump. Can I use regular automotive battery cables from the parts store.

Do not try laying a stock battery on its side. Results will be horrible. Only a completely sealed battery, one with no fill caps or vent tube, should be placed on its side.

Look for an AGM battery, they can be had for not much more than the stocker and usually can be mounted in any position, upside-down even.

Do all the specs besides size need to match, can I get away with a 12volt .3amp/3ah? I realize I need 12volt, but what is the minimum amp. I am still running everything like I would with a stock setup. Do i need to stay with a 12ah battery

I've heard folks going as low a 5Ah, but the battery may not survive it's normal life span with something that small. I'm running 7.5Ah in my 360 and it's working well so far.

I'm running 14 gauge, but I don't have an electric start and I've done a full LED replacement. My current draw is fairly low. Stick with 12ga or 10 if you're running a starter.

I picked up a battery today, AGM from advanceauto $50 its a 12 volt 9ah. So it should do the trick, and its noticeably smaller. My only concern right now is the wiring. From what I have on the bike it looks to be 4ga, I am going off what was said and compromised. I picked up 8ga and 6ga from lowes, which one should I go with.

I dont see an issue but im not an electrical guru, so I didnt know if for some reason it wouldnt be thick enough.

I'm using a new LiFe battery weights only 400g vs 10lbs for a conventional lead acid battery. And much smaller. My rig is a 1971 CB836.
