Ignition Coils

I'm just wondering if, by some miracle, it's possible to swap ignition coils from one bike onto another? I have an '81 Yamaha XJ550 and I'm pretty sure one of them just went kaput, and there's no Yamaha shop anywhere near where I am for the weekend. Anyone know if honda, kawasaki, anything else will work?

If the resistance is the same, I would guess you would be ok. And if it's a very temporary fix, you could zip tie the coil to the frame.

I just use the generic 12 volt Emgo coils. They work great. Got them for $20 at a local motorcycle shop.
