i bought a 72 cb350 about 2 months ago and started making a seat w/o knowing there was forums for cafe bikes. luckily i found you guys and some really good threads on builds. i have a few basic ?'s i couldn't find answers for
1. where do you guys put your battery's?
2. i wanna put pod filters/cl high pipes on, where do you get bigger main needles?
3. how do i lower my bike? i have seen 2" lower rear shocks, but what about the front
4. is it possible to get it to run like it did in 72 or even better?
5. my electric start doesn't work, can i just trash the wiring and everything that goes w/ it?
6. do most of you register as antiques to get away w/o having fenders and turn signals and such
i bought a clymer and when the weather gets too cold here in maine i plan on putting the dirty girl away and tearing her apart and going to town. this is my first bike and i initially got her cause my tranny went on my subie and i needed something to get around on. figures, i've been wanting a bike so bad since i could first drive and i finally get one @ 28 out of necesaty. any help would be..... well.... helpfull.

you can get rid of the electric start pretty easily...

left side cover is where youll find the chain that connects the starter to the crank. Youll need a freeze plug that can be bought at any auto store to fill the hole. If you want to get rid of the sprocket on the crank, its under the flywheel. Youll need a puller to get at it....

only takes 15 minutes to take everything off... if not less.

can anyone help w/ 1,2, or3?

1. I haven't started my build yet, but on my buddy's 550, we made a little tray for it under the seat and put a sealed battery on it's side. The tray only sits down about an inch below the frame rail on his. I plan on something similar on my cl350 when I get going soon.

2. I put cone filters on mine and didn't change the needles out.. Bike ran great (until I blew a seal, but that's another story). I don't know if the needles in it are stock, but I assume so. I put about 500 miles on it before it started puking out oil, but I highly doubt that it was related to the needles ;)

3. Again, haven't done it on mine, we did it on my bud's 550. just loosened up the triple tree clamps, and slid the fork tubes up about an inch. He did replace the stock headlight brackets with smaller ones, not sure if this was required or not.

Hope that helps a little!
