Indicator lights

I'd like to replace my stock indicator lights with something different, it'd have to be something that i can make and i'd like it to look simple, basically a box with colored lights would work. So how have you done your lights? Pictures or links would be great. Thanks.

I got my indicator lights from princess auto, putting them into my tach and speed, 2 each.

They are LEDs about 5/8" diameter face x 1 1/2" long. 12 volt and cost 2 bucks each. I'll be posting a how-to later this week.
