Industrial Velcro

Howdy

I noticed a couple of people using velcro to hold their seats onto their frames. I'd always thought that was risky, but now I'm considering it.

Any thoughts from people who've used velcro? Is it really strong enough? Even in corners? Any kinds of velcro better than others?

I used industrial velcro to attach my fiberglass seat cushion pan to the fiberglass seat and it is more than strong enough. Its actually a pain to remove, really holds strong. My fear was that the actual velcro would detach from the piece it was stuck to, but I've yet to have a problem and the seat has been off and on more times that I can count.

I've heard of a lot of people using it as well (JRK comes to mind). I think the biggest concern was if the bike was trailered, the seat would need to be put in the truck.

When it comes to "tape fastener" (velcro tm) The darker the colour, the stronger it is. Its strength from there is only increased by vibration, pressure and temperature (the colder it is, the stronger it gets.

There is one type of Velcro that is the hard side of the velcro on both sides. Instead of hook and loop it's like hook and hook. It's very, very strong and I know Home Depot has it. I have used it to mount 30 pound panels before.

It's 3M Dual Lock. Very good stuff. Used to use it to hold race car parts on various formula cars. Also it doesn't pick up debris like regular velcro.

that is what i have holding my seat on (see above) works great! i still pull off the seat if i ever trailer it, but i am not worried about it flying off while i am riding it, my ass is on it! i used some gell super glue on varrious parts of the adhesive to give it a little extra UMPH but it works just fine... i will say that i moded it to the bike so it is snug without anyting
