Inner carb boot diameter needed for Mikuni BS36SS (GSX-1100EF)

boingk

Standard gearhead.
I'm going to get individual 'pod' filters for my '84 GSX-1100EF. I use it as my sole method of transport at the moment, and don't want to have to take the tank/airbox/boots etc off unless I'm fitting pods and then mainjets. So....

Does anyone know the diameter of the carb mouths? If you do it'd be great, and much appreciated.

Cheers - boingk

PS: Yes, aware of the consequences of fitting pods. No, I don't want to get the Dynojet kit. Yes, I know tuning can be a PITA without it. No, I don't care.

It's been many moons since I've had an EF in my garage, so I can't tell you for sure.....

But you should be able to loosen the outer boot clamp and slide it back enough to get the verniers on there (you'll only need a few MM).

2 minute job ;)

Thanks mate, sounds pretty simple. I just finished installing some new indicators so I'll pop out and have a shot at the carbs now, too.

Cheers - boingk

Got it, its 57mm. Sweet. Now planning to buy some Unifilter foam pods, plus some #140 and #150 mainjets.

Cheers all - boingk

If you can't get 57mm, go smaller rather than larger (55 / 56mm will stretch over OK - much better than trying to clamp down a loose fitting 58mm)
