Intake valve removal issues on 78 cb550k

Hi guys,

I'm at the final stages of preparing all the engines parts of my 78 CB550k for soda blasting, so I am removing the valves. After battling with the valve spring compressor I finally have all the valve springs off. The exhaust valves all came out with no problem at all, however the intake valves all seem to be stuck in there some how. When I try to pull them out there is a positive 'click' as if there is something on the valve stem seating on the head and preventing it from sliding out. This is the case on all four cylinders and they all pull out to the exact same distance before stopping.

Am I missing something obvious here?! The manual doesn't mention anything like this.

Thanks

You probably have mushroomed valve tips.

If you can catch your fingernail on the tip, take a file and clean it up, DO NOT FORCE IT!!!!

Good luck...

Good call, there does seem to be a little bulge at the tip. Is it sufficient to clean them up, or should they be replaced once I get them out?
