Internally wired bars with extra drilled holes - too weak?

I originally drilled my bars for internal wiring and now plan on flipping them. Would it weaken the bars too much to flip them and drill new holes? I am considering cutting 1-1/4" off each end so the holes for wiring will be offset slightly. Just not sure. These are aftermarket bars which are considerably heavier/thicker than stockers but when I come to big seams in the road I rely on the bars when I get my weight off the seat. Just curious if others conside this safe or something that will weaken too much.

That will all depend on wall thickness, how close together the holes are, and how large the holes are.

The bars are 1/16" thick, the existing hole is 1/2" and the new hole will be 1/2" as well. The new hole will be 1" down from the existing hole & it will be 90 degrees around to the existing hole. I am not sure if I will be doing it. May just get another set of bars.

If the thought "this may be unsafe" comes to mind, dont do it. There are a lot of stresses on handle bars. The fewer holes the better.

I am going to just get more bars to be on the safe side since they only cost $40. I have plenty of 7/8" bars laying around to use but this sportster has the 1", I have considered using 7/8" bars and using some Buell controls but Harley has a funky turn signal switch thing going were there is a momentary switch on each switch housing for the turnsignal on their respective side. Here is a pic, you can see the existing 1/2" hole there by the mastercylinder mounting perch. I need to add another underneath the bars 3/4" off the perch for the current bar arrangement.

Two holes so close to each other - if the bars are ally ABSOLUTELY forget it, they crack and join up in a flash. Steel bars and you are chancing your arm, but I've seem this done on. Keep the holes as small as possible and dress the edges of the holes to remove and rough surfaces.

Still sounds like sinking the ship for 6 cents worth of tar to me tho.

Finally got my bars on a few weeks back. I got them from TAS classic motorcycles, I wouldn't buy from them again but that's another story. I like the way it turned out. It has a good feel to it now.
