Introducing my TX750 Yamaha

Re: Introducing my TX750 Yamaha

The xs and the tx are two totally different bikes in 750 format. Excellent work sir.

Mad science bitches!

Love your cafe' and really like the one you are replicating. I always thought the TX750 mill was one of the best looking motors the Japs ever made. Just a big, clean lump. Good seeing someone take one of the unloved bikes of the past and make something that nice.

Nice.
Interesting shifter setup there.... Is that the stick shifter facing backwards?

Yes, shifter is backwards, cheap easy rear set. You just have to get used to the shifting pattern. Instead of one down and four up, its now one up and four down.
Its also called GP shifting. GP bikes use this pattern, heeled over in the corner you just push down on the lever to shift up. 1 down 4 up shifting, your foot might rub the ground accelerating and shifting out of a corner.

Yup I've run mine that way before just to play with it.

Here's a before and after I photoshopped the TX750 Yamaha. The before (stock) look has a definate chopper style look to it, long front end, high handlebars and squatty rear end. I think back in the mid 70's Yamaha tried to appeal to the American Easy Rider crowd by styling their bikes to look like choppers.
In the after look I tried to mimics today's sport bikes with lower bars , steeper steering angle and a higher rear end.

Looks like it has longer shocks fitted? I don't get it

That is very, very nicely done.

What bore size master cylinder are you running with two of the twin piston calipers?

The master cylinder is from a 2002 ZX6R KAWASAKI, I'm not sure but I believe bore size is around 15-16mm. The front brake lever has a nice progressive action not overly sensitive or powerful.

very nice build but I always read those motors were time bombs, something about the oil starvation problems, only the 73 if I recall. Is yours a 74 or has it had the deep sump conversion? very cool looker!
