Is a Starter button required or can I start from turning key?

Hey,

So I got a wiring harness, sort of,but the diagram doesn't show a starter button, do I need one or will it be able to start off the turn of the key? Also, how would I wire the solenoid and starter motor in? Confused.

What bike is it? It's possible it doesn't show a starter button because it's for a kickstart only bike.

You can't start a bike with the key because as far as I know no bike key switch has a momentary starter position. You could maybe wire one in from the automotive world but that sounds needlessly complex compared to a simple starter button.

try a moto guzzi ignition switch, they used this system once, other wise use a car ignition switch
