Is any production bike a true Cafe?

FUCK NO!!! Threse no such thing as a factory cafe. A cafe racer can be alot of things, but not stock. Just my 2, but I believe a cafe should be customized/modified to best suit the rider. Just like a Bigdog IS NOT a chopper. A stock Thruxton, XLCR, Bimota or anything else could be a good start for a cafe, but is not outta the box cool. Does my opinion count more since I'm in the 5% that rides a Brit ;)

Soooo... by that logic, the Honda Fury is NOT a chopper? If it looks like a duck... I really don't care who makes them (cafe bikes). I'm just really, really glad they're around!

BAW HAHAAHAAAHAAAAAHAAA,gasp,HAHAAAA HAAA HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!! Honda Fury, a chopper(snicker) HOL-E-SHIT, thats funny!

Why is that funny??? Because it wasn't made in someones garage or in a shop full of hairy, tatted up and overweight "bikers"? OCC's shop is as high tech as I've ever seen. I guess they're not building choppers either??? Your reaction puzzles me!

P.S. Tell me, what would you call the Furry then? Der...

I have no problem with people buying a factory cafe or chopper style bike. 90% of the homemade bikes I see on forums, eBay, and Craigslist are nothing more than a waste of good vintage bikes. I can respect that some people know their limitations and buy a new bike instead of trashing a piece of history and driving up the prices for everyone.

Love well done custom cafes and chops but the production bikes, including stock vintage bikes, are okay by me as well.

It also has to be accepted that the definition of a Cafe Racer has evolved a little bit. If we are sticking to the 1960's defintion then maybe British twins are the only bike you can make a true Cafe Racer out of.

a chopper is a factory bike that has had the frame chopped by the owner. the fury hasn't been, so it isn't one. tho I'm sure somebody will, then that one will be a chopper.
factory custom would be the tactful thing to call it. a chopper replica is more accurate. I call it 10 years too late, a serious miscalculation of demographic, (as was the Rune) and a waste of Honda's genius. pretty tho.

I can agree with the miscalculation comment. Honda should make a retro standard like Triumph did with the Bonneville. They should make a CB750 twin! :)

Honda does make a retro twin, the CB400SS. It's just not sold in North America.

Looks to compete with the Yamaha SR400.

I was just looking at pics of the Norton 961 as well as the Vincent Black Shadow concept. Since neither are in mass production I suppose they can be Cafe Racers. :p

Wow, I wish those 400ss bikes were available in the states. I'd build that in a heartbeat just for new, non crusty parts! Can you imagine how fast you could build a cafe if you didn't have to worry about cleaning it all up first? But then, that's half of a cafe build. Either way, cool beans. Love that it has a kick starter.
