It be Rainin' Texans, eh?

Cooltouch

Too much is juuust about right
Howdy from Houston, Texas, where it's hot, humid, and flat! But I can ride 365 days a year, so that makes up for it some.

I learned how to ride before I learned how to drive, some (mumbledy mumble) years ago. Drifted away from bikes for far too long, but got back into things with a vengeance about eight years ago. Don't have a lot of spare funds to invest in this passion, and I'm for sure not going into debt for a pretty farklin' thing, so I've accumulated some choice used specimens since I got back into the saddle. Currently, my stable includes four Yamaha XS650s, a couple of old Beemer airheads, a hardtail Sporty, and a Norton Commando.

I like the street-fighter/street tracker look, but I like the Cafe look just a whole lot more. I've got a bunch of motorcyclical projects, but the one on the front burner right now is a 1978 Yamaha XS650 E that I'm doing the cafe thing on. I started a blog on it. If you'd like to read more about what's going on, go here:

I hope to have it completed by this summer. Then I get to move on to the next project.

So, anyway . . . yeah, as my avatar indicates, I play guitar. I've been a musician for going on 43 years. Now, I build them as well. My specialty is classicals, especially 10-string classicals. I have no desire to promote my guitar business on this forum, so if you're interested in learning more about my guitars, send me a PM. I'm also a published writer. Not making much money at writing at the moment, but that's only because I'm not writing stuff to be published. For now. I'm a self-taught artist, a published photographer, and a linguist with a BA and MA in linguistics. My linguistics specialty is the biological evolution of language. Yup.

Oh, and I like beer -- especially the dark stuff and the bitters. And BBQ. And TexMex and Cajun Food.

Hope to meet other XS650 riders here -- I know there's gotta be some here. Cuz XS650s are everywhere and they're cheap.

Nuff said.

Best,

Michael

As long as no one breaks into "Its raining men" then I'm ok. Nice meeting you. Long live Guinness.

Hi from another xs650 rider, good luck with your build, just got mine up and running it was done 2 years ago but you are never

How about that liquor store "Specs" in Houston!!! Oh My God!! That place is like a candy store for alcoholics. They have aisles dedicated to one type of liquor. Vodka, bourbon, gin. Row after row after row. It is like a super store for booze and beer, and snacks. Only in Texas. And the drive through beer stores. That is cool too.
