Howdy from Houston, Texas, where it's hot, humid, and flat! But I can ride 365 days a year, so that makes up for it some.
I learned how to ride before I learned how to drive, some (mumbledy mumble) years ago. Drifted away from bikes for far too long, but got back into things with a vengeance about eight years ago. Don't have a lot of spare funds to invest in this passion, and I'm for sure not going into debt for a pretty farklin' thing, so I've accumulated some choice used specimens since I got back into the saddle. Currently, my stable includes four Yamaha XS650s, a couple of old Beemer airheads, a hardtail Sporty, and a Norton Commando.
I like the street-fighter/street tracker look, but I like the Cafe look just a whole lot more. I've got a bunch of motorcyclical projects, but the one on the front burner right now is a 1978 Yamaha XS650 E that I'm doing the cafe thing on. I started a blog on it. If you'd like to read more about what's going on, go here:

I hope to have it completed by this summer. Then I get to move on to the next project.
So, anyway . . . yeah, as my avatar indicates, I play guitar. I've been a musician for going on 43 years. Now, I build them as well. My specialty is classicals, especially 10-string classicals. I have no desire to promote my guitar business on this forum, so if you're interested in learning more about my guitars, send me a PM. I'm also a published writer. Not making much money at writing at the moment, but that's only because I'm not writing stuff to be published. For now. I'm a self-taught artist, a published photographer, and a linguist with a BA and MA in linguistics. My linguistics specialty is the biological evolution of language. Yup.
Oh, and I like beer -- especially the dark stuff and the bitters. And BBQ. And TexMex and Cajun Food.
Hope to meet other XS650 riders here -- I know there's gotta be some here. Cuz XS650s are everywhere and they're cheap.
Nuff said.
Best,
Michael
