JB weld gas proof?

I thought I read somewhere that it's good after it fully cures. I hope so, cuz I used it on a petcock........

Another product that is gasoline proof is "Seal-All" that you can get a K-mart. Its in a yellowish tube and works.

Yeah Kev, I noticed that. Seal all. Does it cure like a soft caulking? It would almost act as a gasket...which I kinda needed

Killian...Me no comprend

not sure if it was just operator error but i used it on an old tank to seal two pin holes and it only sealed for about 3 months then started leaking again. i guess like the guy up top said it was actually touching gas. mind you it was classic jb so this jb water weld may work. if you are looking for something more like a gasket i like to use rtv silicone. i use it on a lot of different areas with the carbs and there boots and holds up nicely. i also slab it around the threads before i put my petcock back on.

find a good welder running a proper TIG who has experience on thin metals. if you prep the part (aka remove paint etc) and ask politely you can most likely get the job fixed pretty cheap. I've gotten a couple of thin walled alloy and steel bicycle frames welded this way for the measley sum of one case of good beer (which i get free from work... I tell ya, beer sponsors are the best kind of sponsors!).

if one wont do it, find another. go in when its slow.

JB Weld WILL hold up if you let it cure fully. Give it 3 days or so and make sure your surfaces are prepped (clear of paint, oil, dirt, and roughed up a little if the surfaces are normally smooth). If you dont let it cure fully before you start using the part, it will let go.
