It's been a while since I've posted anything. Sorry about that, it's been hectic with the holidays. Travis got me a tank for Christmas. So he began modifying the bike to make it fit. He cut the ends of the top rails so the narrow tunnel would fit. That will get addressed later. Then he stripped the tank of the little bit of surface rust the tank had. I then bead blasted the triples and painted them black. Then he showed me how to take the fork apart. I did the other one myself. We are gonna finish sanding them and paint them too. Heres some pics.
The new one is a Yamaha JT1 tank. It's the tank from my husbands first dirt bike. It holds a gallon of gas. We have a new one coming this week that's a little bigger. ;D
Oh its still gonna get mounted Crescent. I'm going to make both tanks mount in the same location. Or something. So stay tuned. They just wont be getting finished as quickly as originally planned. We have forks to put together today.
Well we put the forks together today. We did a quick mock up of them. Before putting in the seals. We are gonna lower them another 1/2 inch. Jenn also decided to rock a drum front brake. We put the bars that were on the 350 onto the 500. looks pretty mean, feels like a death trap sittin still. heres some pics.
We made a strut that mocks up the rear shock height to 11 inches. We drilled another hole in the strut to stimulate the shock bottomed out, and it's perfect height.
I decided to go with Slideway Dirt Track Bars from Omar's Dirt Track Racing, Inc. We're going to narrow them about 2 inches, and have a drum brake for the front and rear.
