I am working on a 78 cb550 and am looking for some suggestions for the starting jet sizes. The bike has been over bored to 600cc and is running a cb650 cam. It will be fitted with pod style filters and exhaust will be 4-2 with reverse cone mufflers in the 16"-18" range.
Thanks for looking
.
xlnt info . . if your carbs are stock and it ran fine before, i would probably go up probably go up 1 - 2 sizes on the pilot and 2 on the main and lower the clip on the needle 1 position and start there.
no prob, you're welcome . . you can also use the approach of going up 10 sizes on the main then going down by two until it stops burbling during the test ride . . the end result will be identical, or nearly the same.
one way to test the main is to go around 3000 rpm in 3rd gear, then quickly open the throttle all the way.
