Jumping in from Illinois

My other ride is a rigid!
Hello to all and a forward "thank you".

I've been kicking around this web site on all my searches for ideas on what to do with my new set of wheels. This site is a hell more open to the diversity of bikes than others, I'm sure most, know of "these" sites I'm talking about.

Well, with riding season here prudy much closed. I'm one of the hold outs. I need to make room in the garage for my truck, so I have started to strip down the project and move it into the basement for winter refining. Still up in the air with what it'll become: Cafe, Brat or Bobber.

Got the bike off my sister, she bought it from the orig. owner and never even rode it. Sat in her garage for 3 yrs under a tarp. It's a 1971 Honda CB450 with only 5824 miles on it. Outstanding condition for being 38. I believe it even has the orig. tires on her

My stable is getting full.

that 450 is gorgeous......leave it as is, probably the nicest original example ive ever seen.....ride it and enjoy it....

I may just do that also, I just need a project to do. Have to keep my mind sharp and hands dirty.

What it does need:

New fork seals
Tires
Rear shocks
Grips
Few upgrades,
Neck bearings
Elect. ignition
ETC. ETC

The chrome is in pretty good shape, along with the paint. The bike also came with an original windshield that bolts to the bars, has gold trim around it and brass acorn nuts. Need to keep an eye out for a gold milk crate that I can strap to the back and it would become a great little beer and smoke run bike.

WOW! That bike is beautiful (as is the white one...). Now get to cutting it up! Unless you want to trade me for my cb350? Already torn down! ;) Seriously though, great start man. Cant wait to see where this one goes...

Thanks,

Will I went ahead and tore her all down, moved her into to the basement. Got every nut and bolt bagged up. I'm going the way of an old flat tracker/board tracker, getting allot of inspiration from Troybilts' bike. simple yet functional.

Trying to keep the expense low on buying new parts, but since it's a complete tare down I may as well buy the important shit now rather than get it on the road and find out later and wish I had done it right. IE: bearings, chain, bushings, shocks.

Will start a thread once I get to the mock up stage. Right now just cleaning and polishing every nut, blot along with stripping all the clear coat off the aluminum.

I will post pics in the thread.

Well it has been more than a few months since I actually posted here, on what I have done to the bike. To keep my head in the game of a rebuild, I was going to wait until all was done and just do a one shot rebuild thread. That didn't happen, as I had a puter melt down and lost a crap load of build pictures. Here is what She turned out to be. Enjoy!
