Figured I would document this project, been having a lot of fun with it so far. As of posting this I am about halfway done (maybe).
Here's the bike as I got it, non-running and rough a while back:
My plan for the bike is this;
Light cafe build, low budget, reuse as much as possible. Due to the uncommon-ness of this bike (especially 'round here) parts are nonexistent locally, and online they can get expensive quick.
I'm not planning on using this bike as a primary means of transport. Being 6'4", it's a bit small for me. More so a fun project to get me more familiar with engines and the internals.
Unfortunately I am not good at taking progress pictures, I will have to work on that in the future. I'll load a few pictures when I get them on the computer tomorrow
Ok here's a couple photos I have taken over the past. Here's a better pic of the bike, with the engine pulled
And here's the sad little engine
I stripped down the frame and sent it off to get sandblasted and powdercoated. My sister works at a powdercoating shop, so I got a great deal on the whole job. I wasn't too picky about the color, so they used nice gray that has a slight pearl to it

AFTER:
As you can see, I re-did a couple things as well. I powdercoated the stock rear springs myself, reinstalled the battery box, and got new footpeg rubber. I plan on putting rearsets on eventually, but they'll do til then.
More pics to come, I have rebuild the triple tree and forks, and rebuild the handlebars with clip-ons.
Really? Where is that? I've looked around here and rarely see them on any site, never seen another in person. Ebay has a decent selection of parts for them, but prices range from just okay to 'jezuz that's a lot for a bolt'.
Couple more pictures. Quality isn't too good, sorry. She currently is in a storage garage up on top of my soda machine :/
I rebuilt the forks with new seals and fresh oil, then powdercoated them a nice gloss black, yellow caps. Unfortunately like more of the smaller Hondas, the top of the forks where the headlight ears were are pretty rusted and ugly. I'm thinking wrapping them with vinyl or a good tape will hide it.
I cleaned and powdercoated the handlebar controls, went through the paintstaking effort of repainting the lettering in yellow powder. I will have to get a better picture when she's outside. Killswitch knob is busted though, anyone got a spare?
New grips from DCC, I like the quality and how they match with what I'm going for on the bike. Purchased a decent set of clip ons, drilled them out to fit the wiring for the controls so the wiring is concealed. Last but not least I repainted the headlight bucket and cleaned up the gauges nice. Old headlight ears were bent and rusty, so I picked up a cheap set of brackets instead.
Wow, you do have a LOT! I'll be looking there if I need anything else for my bikes
Small update, I resealed the case, hopefully it'll be okay. I'm gonna start slowly putting the top end together, can't put the sides back on til I find them in storage :-X
Not much going on... sent the cylinder head to a shop to weld. Where the tensioner rod goes into it, the timing chain had worn a slot pretty deep. A small piece broke off when it was being cleaned, so I decided to err on the side of caution and get it welded. Hope to have it back next week so I can get it back on the engine
I did order some tires, these were exactly what I was looking for, and easy on the wallet as well
Can't decide what I want to do with the wheels yet, the chrome isn't the best. Might powdercoat the whole shebang, just gotta decide on the colors
Ah yes, I have seen your bike many times during the planning process. I like how yours turned out Hopefully mine can get close to how well yours turned out!
Some small progress, rebuilt one of the carbs (can't find the other one currently :'( ) This one was in pretty rough shape, had a pin hole in the bowl. Fixed it with JB weld, hopefully that will hold for a while. Eventually will just pick up a better set.
Got the valves back in, waiting on new o-rings for the cylinder head, then that will be installed back on the engine.
Update: the bike isn't forgotten, just don't have a shop right now and can't do much in my apartment. Engine is 90% built, can't powdercoat the last pieces until I get my bigger oven going in a garage. So until then, she sits. Been busy trying to buy a house with a 4 stall garage
