Just bought my first truck!

Blake

the future is my friend
My first time financing. Always paid with cash and a handshake in the past. Saw this Monday night, picked it up yesterday. Asking price was $14,998. After 2 hours of haggling, I got them down to $9,850 out the door. Added a 30k mile warranty and took it home for around $12k with warranty, taxes & fees! I'm pretty excited. I've never had anything so new. It will be great for hauling bikes and work.

previous rides:
1965 AMC Rambler Classic 770 convertible
1982 Pontiac Firebird w/ Chevy 350 from a Monte Carlo
1996 Suzuki GS500e
1993 Chevy Blazer
2000 Honda Accord EX
1975 Honda Cb500t

2004 Ford F-150 V8. Minimal mods when I bought it. Flowmaster dual exhaust. Bed liner:

Not too much. I'm not a truck as status symbol kinda guy. This thing is basic and utilitarian. Only mod will be a driver side wheel well mounted tool box with slide out trays to hold motorcycle towing straps and other bike tools.

Good thinkin man, u know I look at stuff I've done to my truck and sometimes I wish it was just stock, so I think it's cool that you like it the way it is, it's a great truck, and you got a great deal! Should be greatly useful to carry bikes n stuff around

HERESY!

Nice truck! I'm in the process of trying to trade my Civic for a truck myself. Have any pictures of the Rambler?

This may sound like a dumb question but I honestly don't know what HERESY means ??? , lol, can someone elaborate? Thanks lol

I remeber my first truck. 1977 Ford F250 Custom. Worked on it for a whole summer, then it got snookered by a drunk. I miss that truck

heresy is a belief that goes against what is generally accepted.

heres the dictionary definition...

heresy |ˈherəsē|
noun ( pl. -sies)
belief or opinion contrary to orthodox religious -or- opinion profoundly at odds with what is generally accepted

trucks are dangerous for people like us... it gives you the ability to go score old barn finds with absolutely no hesitation... hope you're on good terms with the wifey ;)

Look out swap meets! I'm thinking about putting a chock (or TWO!!) in the back. You know, just in case, or whatever... ;D

I just caught this. Sadly, the Rambler is no more. My dad sold it to a guy who did a total restoration on it. Someone stole it out of his yard 2 years ago, ripped the motor out and burned it to the ground. Sad sad sad. THing was fire engine red, vinyl red & black interior, two ashtrays, HUGE steering wheel, doorbell button for a horn, and that inline six with a carb the size of my fist.

Update:
someone mentioned possible mods. After driving around for two months with the hot Georgia Summer on the horizon, I'm gonna have to tint these windows. The heat is killer. The toolbox is on hold since I just bought new Craftsman rolling box and a gas tank and another bike ( http://dotheton.com/index.php?topic=15194.0 )!

I got some heavy duty floor mats since work gives me lots of mud to play in. I also bought two sets of tie down straps for hauling bikes.

So, future mods:
-side tinting
-driver side tool box
-chocks, maybe

I think Fords look cool with billet grills, but thats just me. What kind of tint are you looking for, percentage-wise?

Update:

Typhoon- I got 25% tint. The legal limit in Georgia is 18% but now the sides match the rear which is the factory tint.

In addition to getting the tint two weeks ago, I finally picked up the toolbox I've wanted for so long. Mounted it up today after washing and detailing the truck. I also replaced the aging Michelin tires with some Firestones in July and added a high performance air filter. I'd like to totally switch over to a K&N cold air intake but that will have to wait until the Fall.
