Newest project 1976 Honda cj 360
Well I just purchased a 1976 cj 360 on Sunday 1-19-2014 and look forward to start working on the bike. I have enjoyed reading your posts and have been picking up several ideas and a lot of good tips. The images below are how the bike looked when I picked it up.
The bike I bought is all original except for the tires. It has 12,000 on it and all the parts are there except for the left side cover. The seller had two gas tanks, the original one(but it is rusted pretty bad) and he had purchased a 1977 cj tank off of ebay that is in very good shape but has the orange strip across the bottom of the tank that came standard on the 1977 year model. I would love to swap the 1977 tank for a 1976 tank if anybody has one.
The previous owner said that the bike started and ran with an auxiliary gas tank. First thing I will do is change the oil, plugs and rig an auxiliary gas tank, install a battery and see what happens. I will keep you posted.
I have not decided what I am going to do with the bike and am open to suggestion. I might just clean it up, get it running and sell it on ebay, or restore it and ride it or make a cafe racer out of it.
Did you see the restored 1976 cj 360 that just sold on ebay for $3,100.
What do you suggest.
