I just changed the oil, replaced the stator, and tightened the cam chain to what I was told was the correct way to do it. 90 degrees counter clockwise from where the the stator mark and lc line up. Now with everything done the bike wont kick start anymore and when I use the electric start while pulling the throttle a bit the bike will start but I hear the worst sound coming i think from the left intake valve by the tappet. The bike dies if the throttle isnt held. Please help
I know at one point while aligning the rotor I went clockwise but then I went counter clock wise after learning more. Did I do it right?
I should be home at a ten tonight and that will be the first thing I check. why would the valve suddenly be hitting the piston? what if there are marks?
If your cam was installed 180deg off the valves could hit the pistons. There's really nothing anyone can tell you specifically from the info you've given. Get home, investigate, take pictures, and report back.

Huh? How is that possible? Cam rotates at half the speed of the crank so 180 degrees off would be impossible? I know you know more then me so please educate me because im getting scared i did the same on the 200 im working on...

I opened the spark plug holes and did not see any marks on whatever metal was down there. IM going to re try adjusting the cam chain and take off the plunger to see if anything is wrong there.
You may want to check to see if the timing is right, also. If i recall correctly, the left piston should be at top dead center when the rotor is at the LT mark.
Ha ha you put oil in after replacing the stator, ja?
Ja. My oil was dirty and a lot came out. The timing was just done a few weeks ago. I took off the tensioner and it looks like it came out all the way. uh what? Ill try it again. is it correct to go 90 degrees ccw from where the lc meets the stator mark.

Finally I fixed it. Couldnt be happier. thanks for all the knowledge. Still hearing a few pops on each cylinder while trying to dial in the idle screw. But it is atleast running decently now.
The plunger somehow cam out of the tensioner piece. It is running a lot better now but Im still hearing a bit of racket more on the left side then the right. I got the valves recently adjusted I thought so I dont know why that would be. Im going to take it back to the guy who did it on tuesday and see what he thinks. Are valve adjustments an easy thing? What tools do you need? Im also getting a random low pop in the pipes randomly. I just went up on the jet size which makes me a little confused because I thought pops were from too lean of a mixture.
