Hi all,

I thought I'd done this a few days ago, but can't find it--maybe I pressed the wrong button. I just bought a partially disassembled 1980 Yamaha XS850LG. My intention is to get it back together and running for the Summer, and then strip it down to rebuild a cafe racer out of it. First it needs new pistons and rings to get it up and running right--I hope. I built a 1959 Triumph Bonnie into a "street racer" (what we called them long ago) in 1965. I've seen a few pictures of XS850s changed into cafe style that really get my heart a pumping. I live in southeastern Washington state, and am currently a retired mechanical engineer. I am brand new to DTT, having joined about a week ago. I hope I can give and take information from the site. Anyway, if anyone has a good photo of XS750-850s done right, please let me know.

Thanks,

Larry

Just found one near finished off the WWW.

i'm gonna move this to the new members section. welcome to dtt! :)

Go Mamma, Where is the "new member section"?

Cresent Son, Thanks for the picture. Something quite similar is what I have in mind. I don't like the exhaust much on that bike, and will likely weld up one of my own.

Go Mamma, I think I found it on my own--da.

Cresent Son, Not sure, but "good engineer built bike" might be a oxymoron--not sure, and won't speak for others more capable than me.

WOOOOHOOOOO!!!

Another old fart......experienced gentleman. ;D
And a fellow CAD rat too.
Welcome, I'm looking foreward to your build.
