Kanticoy Designs Garage. Construction in progress.

Re: Why I've been absent.

Indeed...when I think of what I could do with the $1500 that disappears every month....whew.

Re: Why I've been absent.

Exactly. That money is what is getting invested in this project, and when its done its done. That's a wonderful thought.

Re: Why I've been absent.

So when it's done, you're having a shop party, right? Cause Skyler and I can just hop in the van and head down...

Ok... Ill be down in the spring with a cot, my tools, some bikes, a stripper pole, 3 cases of whiskey, a Steelers banner, and a general lack of concern for my well being. Go ahead and write up the rental agreement (Im short, so maybe 4ft x 7ft should work) and pick the corner in which I will live out the rest of my days.

lol... I was gonna say something along those lines too. ::)

Re: Why I've been absent.

Shop party is go. I pulled up a working 1978 "square" class bottle Dr. Pepper machine a few months back off of Craigslist for $150. It is getting cleaned, painted, and the art work replaced with motorcycle related graphics then converted to beer duty. It will be operational for said party along with the nice cast iron wood burning stove courtesy of my buddy Jared. Can we say primo hangout pad?

Re: Why I've been absent.

What?! A beer dispensing machine...Ugh, party on Garth! Haha! Looking pretty awesamazing!

QUestion: Are you putting any center columns or poles in to help hold the center joists and help with rigidity?

Re: Why I've been absent.

Nope, that's what those fancy engineered trusses are for. Trust me its sturdy, there were 3 grown men walking up there yesterday and it didn't even complain. Those trusses are designed for snow loads etc and built to span long gaps.

Re: Why I've been absent.

Oh ok.. Yea I have never seen trusses like that so that was why I had concern.. Sweet deal! Thanks for the clear up to, I'll keep that in mind if I build a garage haha

Re: Why I've been absent.

Way cool Kiley! Getting it dried-in is major. Save me a space for my cot.

Re: Why I've been absent.

Thanks Chris. You know there's always room here for you and yours.

And Ronnie, yes, trusses are the stuff. These I bought off of craigslist. They were leftovers from manufactured homes that a guy had left from the tornado relief here. I got them for stupid cheap and they fit perfectly....AND they are scissor trusses which gives me nice ceiling height. Here's a little bit of interesting reading for ya on trusses:

P.S. Mrs. CCRider says hi and gives the beer dispenser two thumbs up.

Re: Why I've been absent.

Well fellas, big day on Friday. Concrete was supposed to be delivered on Saturday at 8:00 AM. Got a call at 2pm on Friday stating that they couldn't deliver on Saturday due to weather...but they could at 4pm on Friday! Mad dash! Thanks to my pops, Neal (Ahamay056), Thomas, Jason, and Bobby we got it spread. Then finally, after fighting the humidity and rain, it cured enough for me to Fresno float it smooth and I finished at 3:30 AM. It was a bitch, but it is done! Huge step, and damned if I ain't excited! ;D ;D ;D

Prep work (gravel, vapor barrier, concrete mesh and rebar, grade pins)

A buddy gave me a nice security door from a hospital that is steel clad with a huge window, and 3 brand new Pella windows still in plastic in return for helping him put a head gasket on a 22RE 'Yota motor. WE are well on our way.

Price sounds about right! 8)

Sweet home away from home in the making. Nice work.

That's gonna be a great shop!

Yup, sweet shop! It's gonna be well worth the wait!

Re: Why I've been absent.

WOOOoooooHOOOooooo!!!

Now the hard part is done. Mounting windows and siding goes quick, electrical/trim/paint take a while but still are easier than pouring a slab.
I can't wait to pee behind it in October. ;D

Hahaha! You can use the center drain Mike!

Today I went and picked up an awesome free door and 3 free Pella windows from my friend Paul. The windows are still wrapped in plastic with the energy star stickers on them! He owns a moving business, and these were some that someone he moved didn't want. Awesome deal. I re-greased the hinges, cleaned up the door, and built a frame and stud wall for the door today. I love it.

The plan is to put barber shop style gold leaf lettering on it and corner decals. It will say "Kanticoy Designs"
