Heya ;D

Figured i should introduce myself after lurking for long enough. 24yo student from Australia and i've gotten my hands on my first bike.

I have little to no mechanical experience but am aiming to rebuild my 1980 Kawasaki Z200 within the university break over the next 3 months.

Picked it up for a little over $500 and i'm hoping to do the majority of the work myself to keep costs as low as possible.

How it looked when i got it.

Finally in the garage

Got her running smooth enough after starting with a solenoid bridge off my car battery
Did a couple of the laps up and down the street (without a seat and with the car battery taped between my legs)

Was happy enough with the engine, so i started gutting it

Ran into problems with the screws on the airbox casing. Couldn't get the bastards out

Waiting on my brother to swing in with an impact screwdriver, helps having a mechanic in the family haha

Planning on stripping the tank back to bare metal, installing an electrics box underneath the seat and working on a custom seat in the next week or two

Any advice is more than appreciated!!

cool , good little bike.
ive had good luck getting screws out by using my cordless drill by setting it on a low'ish torque setting and vibrating them out. works much the same as a rattle gun.
just make sure its on reverse ;)

Got the screws out of the airbox, took off the back fender and tank

Now i've just gotta work out electrics.

Does anyone know if i would have to update if im using a 4cell antigravity battery?
