ke100 flywheel interchange

Archer97

Snow, the other white drug.
I'm bringing this little bike back from the grave after god knows how many years it sat outside. I poured about a half cup of water out of the case and needless to say, everything was locked up tight. Along with the flywheel being seized onto the shaft. And I mean SEIZED. Nothing worked, the puller ripped the rusty threads out of the flywheel and heat, pb blaster and many pissed off whacks with a failed me. So as bad as it sounds, I ended up chucking the whole motor in a mill and drilling out the crank. I needed a new crank anyway so it was no big deal. But of course the flywheel was destroyed. So I'm on the hunt for a new one and all I can find are flywheels from the older KEs and KHs with points ignition. But mine is a 2000 which has the electronic ignition. My question is will they work? Or are the newer ones built differently?

A pic of the little ripper for anyone interested.

Though I've never tried it, I suspect you will need the correct flywheel. The bike is a CDI and almost definitely has magnets located within the rotor that are necessary to the operation of your ignition system.
