Dude-you'll be fine. I'm from League City original (about 30 miles closer to Galveston) and rode Alisha out. Everyone in my family is staying this time as well. Just stock up now on the essentials-beer, snacks,video games, mags, and movies!!! ;D

I went through Alisha as well! I guess it's the price we pay for living in Houston :D! They are saying that Ike is going to be worse than Alisha, with winds at 75+ mph by the time it reaches us! I went out and bought 2 generators yesterday, so I'll be drinking cold beer in an air conditioned house while playing my PS3! All while the roof on my house is flying off! Give your family my best, and tell them to be safe!

What side of town are you on? I'm watching the news and it looks crappy already-G-Town underwater and it has 10 hours til landfall :eek:
Just got off the phone with Mom and they feel pretty secure.
 
THE ONLY TIME I WOULD FREAK is if you hear the wizard of oz music. besides that it's all good. good luck
 
I hope all is well with u guys down there. Im stuck on CNN watching it go through there. Looks pretty rough but hopefully you'll be out of the woods soon. We are 15hrs north of u and we are already getting rain from this storm. Thats how big it is.

Man, I just got in from a job across town (it's 1:15AM Sunday) here in TORONTO and it's insane out HERE! I had to cross the Danforth bridge, do the Mount Pleasant route and all getting these insane blasts of wind, on top of the rain. It was a pretty cool night ride because no drivers or even cops were on the streets at all, but fucking treacherous driving! Any of you guys in the US south-midwest must be getting slammed. I'm not a prayin' man, but good luck to you.
 
Just got off the phone with my parents in League City (30 miles north of Galveston on the bay) They're safe and so is the house. They just received power and cell phone service, so they're good to go. FEMA is sending in trucks of food for people that didn't prepare ::). That area is full of survivor types, so they should be up and running by the end of the week ;D

Kemah, which is a town over, got slammed pretty badly as they're on the bay and caught most of the flooding. It'll be awhile til they clean that place up. Here's some pics...

Ya, i could be a while until things are even CLOSE to normal down there!

Spiderman could be without power fo some time yet!

Just got power back! WOOOHOOO!!! Lost 4 trees (2 uprooted) but that's it! However, my neighbor got her house cut in halve by a pine tree. Pics to come.

I heard from CNN that the mayor of Galveston is lobbying to get over 10bil in federal aid.. WOW...
