Key replacement

Been Around the Block
I have a 1976 honda cb750 super sport with the original lockset but it has no key, is there anyway i can have a new key cut for it because my gas tank cover, seat lock, and ignition all use it and it would be one serious pain in the butt to remove and replace it all because its all on my bike and locked currently.

Thanks chicken

Re: Key replacement

Gas tank cover can be opened with any key. It has no tumblers.

I would say to check with your local lock smith. Also, I think the key for the seat is different from the ignition.

alright, i pulled the ignition barrel out so if worse comes to worse i can replace it or have a locksmith make a key for it.

I took my bike into a lock smith and they had me a new key in a couple of days, though it would probably be simpler to remove your ignition and take it in. Ran me $50,

well i actually pulled out the part tht is silver and holds the part where the key turns ;D not sure its supposed to do that but ya that's where im at now

Key replacement

Search for vintage Honda keys and you will find guys that will cut new keys for you based on the code on the lock.

On some newer Hondas, you could find the key code imprinted inside the ignition and on the helmet lock. Not sure if they were doing it in 76 or not. One of the more knowledgable guys will know.

I managed to actually pull the cylinder/barrel of the lock out of the rest of the ignition so im just going to bring it to a local locksmith and see what they can do
