kick start removal

'74 CB450, removed the one bolt and it won't slide all the way off. It seems as though the last 1/2 inch of the shaft is bent. I don't want to damage something internally by taking a hammer to it just yet, any ideas?

did you take the bolt all of the way out? ive made that mistake more than once. beyond that, i dont know.

Everything was removed, the shaft is distorted and it was a bitch to get off. If I can't remove the gearshift spindle without cracking the cases I'll replace the spindle as well.
