Kickstand for CB450?

Seems like one thing always leads to the next! I'm working on attaching my rearsets on my '73 CB450 and started looking at the old footpegs. Leaning down to remove them I quickly noticed the left one is tied into the kickstand. Initial thought...cut that sucker off. However, I thought I would give a shout on here to see what others have done.

Thoughts and suggestions greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Tim

Depending on where you mount your rearsets you may find that the current location of the kickstand will cause interference between the kickstand and your foot placement on the gear lever. I found it necessary to move the mounting point for the kickstand forward to where the lower frame starts the bend towards the front downtube. This will require you to lengthen the OEM CB450 sidestand by about 1.5" to maintain the stock side lean, or you can swap the stand for one from a CB750 of similair era. Here's a write up I posted to on the issue on the Honda Twins site http://www.hondatwins.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=15679. Hope it helps with your planning. ;)

I don't have a picture...but I cut the mount for the foot peg and welded the end shut...obviously keeping the kickstand in the original position. I have no issues with clearance with the shifter or exhaust.
