Re: CB650C Cafe Racer like project! Suggestions for my next move please!
OK guys I'm gonna take a bit of a break on modding I can't hold back riding season any more ;D. Pretty happy with where I've gotten so far! Gonna ride for a little bit than mod a lil more. What do you think of my look so far? Plan on doing Exactly what I have on top of page 3 but like where I've gone so far. Notice a bit of a wobble at 50 mph since I put new tires on. Any clue? It wasn't doing this before I got a pro balance and tire mount but I removed and returned the wheels to the bike myself and everything looks even from my prospective.

Did you use the guides on the swingarm for aligning it? There is little notches to make sure its perfect. If you still have wobble, head back to the shop and explain the situation. They should re-balance them at no cost.
The bikes for sure coming along. My advice, take your time, plan carefully, and mod as you go.
Check out Sinbad85's build on his kz650. As far as I know, he modded it as he rode it, and so far has done an amazing job. Your skills will progress as you learn more and more.

I had a CB550, and it was a tough job turning it into a cafe bike...as a matter of fact, after I got done, I posted pics to the cafe racer TV web site, and they never made it, so I posted them a second time, and still it was rejected by the cafe racer community.
So here's a picture of what a chopper frame looks like as a cafe bike....is it good enough to make it as a cafe bike?
caferacertv didn't think so.

Unbolt your bars from your barclamp.Rotate the section you put your hands on approx.90 deg.Get them where they are comfortable.Ride the hell out of it.

Awesome with a lil brute force I was able to pull the clubmans down over the fork nipple's. I had to undo the bar bolts push the handlebars way forward bolt them back down then with some muscle I pulled them down over the fork nipples and bolt the rest of the way, peeled a lil metal but all and all it looks allot better. Hopefully it helps with my handling and this high speed wobble ....@ swivel and yes I own a boxing gym in cherry hill where I train fighters amateur pro and just general public looking to get in shape or just to learn boxing theory...That's me working my fighters corner..
I'm a bit late to this one, but to me, it looks like your bars are correctly positions. Clubman bars are meant to mimic clipons and so the part of the bar where the grips and controls are attached should look like it would intersect with the forks had the middle bend not been present. The bend in the middle should run parallel to the forks.
It's all too common to roll them too far forward, like this:
When what you're really after is something more like this:
It's not the end of the world if it's not setup this way, but getting all the angles correct will make cornering a lot easier and more predictable. It also helps to shift your weight back a little as your riding position isn't quite so aggressive and that, too, helps in the corners.
Re: CB650C Cafe Racer like project! Suggestions for my next move please!
Alright Bike rides awesome looks great for right now and the high speed wobble stopped believe it or not since I got my bars to a better position. Now my concern is charging! Yesterday I pulled it of the charger a bit early cause I hadn't started it for a week and it was dead but couldnt wait any longer to ride it.so it didn't have a full charge but I felt like 2 hours charging would suffice...thinking if I ride it that will also recharge the battery. Rode it for 5-10 min. Today I rode it harder 60 mph and about 20 min into driving it I stalled it out(woops) when I went to turn it over- Dead battery- So I ran home (4 miles)... got my truck.. jump started the bike and drove it back. Half way back it died again...so I ran back and got my truck .. Jumped it.. rode it back parked it close to my house so I can run back and get my truck..come back go to pull it in my drive way but of course the bike is dead yet again.....? Is my charging system bad I tested it with a volt tester 6 months ago and all was well. The battery is about 4 months old. I'm throwing it on the charger till it says it's a full charge, but isn't the bike supposed to recharge the battery as you ride it....?
Made my own seat pan, seat cover and just cut out some dense foam and tacked it on top. Anyway My wrist where hurting when I road with the original seat. To much weight forward on my wrist. Dropped down into the bike like this was a much better ride in terms of my wrist comfort. Also the bike feels much faster, don't know if it has anything to do with sitting closer to the ground but I feel a big difference. During the winter I will remove the grab bar ...shorten up the rear chrome fender....minimize the lights to something allot smaller. It is leaking oil but still runs nice ....IM RIDING !
