kz 650 compression problems

hi I have my first motorcycle a 1979 kz650 and I have NO compression when I try to kickstart it and I have to use ether when I try to electric start it someone please help me

When you kick it over, are you pulling the clutch lever in or just leaving it out? In neutral or in gear?

When i kickstart it clutch lever is out and it is in neutral

If you put it in gear and try to kick it over does the bike move?

Yep bike moves when in gear and kicked

Have you actually tested compression? That's independent of the kick starter.

Can you get it to stay running if you use ether to start?

Do you have good fuel flow from the tank? What's up on carbs?

The clutch wasnt engaging when we were doing compression tests so it was my bad but i am having problems starting my bike without using ether... But its almost done!!!!
