Haven't had many comments, but I will keep posting updates. I got a little creative with my girlfriends sewing machine, some foam, and some vinyl. Im pretty happy with the results. I also lowered the front of the bike a little.

Decided to make up a new seat as the last one I did was on my girlfriends machine and not my singer, and my skills have improved. Im pretty happy with it. Its more of a bergundy color not bright red like the pictures lead you to believe.

I hadn't seen these yet...OOIIEEE OOIIEEE!!! Very well done. My mum is a seamstress and I remember those old Singers, but ya dont see them much nowadays. But I will try this upholstery thing, I do have some sewing skills so looking forward to it.

Re: KZ650, My first motorcycle (New Paint)

Still a few more things to button up. Have something fun to put on the friday. Got the master cylinder on today, it came from a 2009 250 ninja. Paint is finished and I am really proud of my first paint job. My 5 years in the automotive detailing industry is paying off.

More pictures to come within the next week.

Re: KZ650, My first motorcycle (Coming Back Together)

Dude, that looks great! I may be about to buy a KZ650 and this thread is some great inspiration.

Re: KZ650, My first motorcycle (Coming Back Together)

That looks fantastic! I was pondering some high rise clip on to make my constant city driving more comfortable. How do you like them?

I really like the high rise clip on's. Still look good, and have an aggressive feel but aren't fatiguing on the wrists nearly as much. Thanks for the compliments.

Re: KZ650, My first motorcycle (Coming Back Together)

i really like the depth of your paint job mine has more colour but you cant go bad with black
and the knee indents are nice (mine are the exact same..)
i just started over with my kz650 after about a year pause (life got in the way)

Re: KZ650, My first motorcycle (Coming Back Together)

The word "WOW" doesn't even come close to describing this bike. Maybe, "YOWZA!" Too nice. ;D

Re: KZ650, My first motorcycle (Coming Back Together)

Paint and the details look gorgeous. Nice job.

Re: KZ650, My first motorcycle (Coming Back Together)

Well after having my rectifier/regulator take a crap on me and frying all my positive and ground wires through the entire harness I have my acewell gauge wired up and working. I took the opportunity to clean up the wiring harness and replace a ton of the old connectors. Just have to mount the speed sensor. A few more things to do before its ridable for the summer. Next winter Ill be doing a full teardown and repainting the frame and motor, and hopefully adding more cool stuff, but for now I just want to ride :)

List of things still to do.
-Mount new aluminum headlight ears
-Relocate ignition in right side headlight ear
-Paint exhaust
-Bleed the brakes
-Final polish
-Final carb tune
-Whatever else I can find

Thanks again for all the compliments, they really help motivate be to spend time doing what I love in the garage, and bring the message home that my hard work is worth something.

Thanks!

Re: KZ650, My first motorcycle (Coming Back Together)

Heres my speed sensor bracket I fabbed up. Countersunk a magnet into the disk rotor to act as the trigger. I really like the Acewell unit. It was worth the $200.
