Been Around the Block
Not exactly sure where this should go so mods please move to a place you might think be more appropriate if this isn't.
I've been at this & researching for awhile. Found a tiny bit of info / pictures around & thought I'd show what I've done if anyone else is interested. This took a lot of espresso, stupid luck, a tape measure & google, lol!
This is a Honda CB750 17x2.5 hoop laced to a Kawasaki KZ650 front hub with KZ650 REAR spokes.
& this is a CB750 rear drum hub with the original 17" spokes laced to an ALUMINUM 17x3.5 late model Triumph hoop.
It is WAY lighter than the stock wheel!
Before I decided to go with the GS1100 arm swap, I laced the same Triumph hoop to the KZ drum hub with the CB750 spokes. The KZ has a 17mm axle, the GS arm has a 20mm axle & the Honda hub has the bearings for it. Plus I already had the Honda hub laying around from robbing the hoop off it for the front end.
So here's what I've got now.
Before I tackled this project, I had no idear about lacing, never read five minutes on the subject. It is quite simple, I've gotten to where I can lace a wheel easily in less than an hour (this isn't truing, I don't have the equipment so I just leave it to the pros right now). Hope this might help someone out down the road, just thought I'd share!
