We started racing with a 1965 Sears 124cc motorcycle. This is one of the three parts bikes we used - others were in better shape!
This is the bike as a "Production Pushrod" class racing bike. It has records at SCTA Bonneville Speedweek on the saltflat, ECTA retired record at Maxton, and ECTA record at the Ohio Mile - 70.79 MPH.
Our rider, my granddaughter
The tires are just about past their legal racing time so we decided to convert the bike to run in the modified class and try for ~ 75 MPH, hence the goal of "Do The 3/4 Ton". Have always liked the 'low buck' hot rodders of the 50's who really did a lot of 'make do' rather than just go out and buy. Kept that theme in mind on this conversion and ended up with wood seat, wood box for gauges, home made bell shaped velocity stack, etc. This is how it ended up and will go to the ECTA Ohio Mile race the last weekend in Sept 2013. Then we can get back to the Honda CB175 to get it ready for next year's racing.
