okay...I know that this is a basic question but.... IS everyone stitching their own leather on their seat? or do you just take your padded seat pan into a tailor? I'd love to know mr loco leon, how you did your seat on your 75 cb750?

If anyone knows a way to do this.....
Mine simply looks like something I picked out of my sons diaper!!!!

you gotta read the whole thread. Somewhere in ther, Noel explains that the leather is from a 750, and only needed modified. He didn't actually use a piece of virgin leather or vinyl for the cover.

Try some thinner matting under the leather to get rid of all the lumps.

Personally... I spent $140 to have a pro do it. hah.

yeah.. for that cb750 seat, I just used the original seat cover that was in really good condition.
I had a leather guy actually cut and sew the cover for $75.
I wasn't 100% happy with the end result so I just did it myself on my cb450t & cb550f seat builds:

it's the sewing that gets me!!! I tried with my seat and just couldn't figure out the cutout pattern. I figured I'd try it with vinyl first...thanks for the info. VERY much appreciated! ;D

The long and short of it is, you have to create sections on your material and stitch them together. Just wrapping a section of vinyl/leather around a seat pan will yield less than desirable results.

Check out my blog on how I made a Bates style seat: http://jetfuelmoto.com/garageblog/?m=200808
Granted it isn't exactly the same as making a Cafe style seat, but the approach is similar.
