Lectron Fuel System

Friend in work used them a lot on drag bikes.
Very simple set up
If I remember I'll ask him tomorrow

They seem really nice, simple design and they have been around for awhile, don't understand why everybody buys
Makuni's?

I believe they are either on or off. I have only seen them used on track bikes. Popular on snowmobiles as well. ;D

Great carbs for a race bike. First real flat slide design. Easy to set up. Hard to understand.
Seventies technology
Still popular with drag racers who get them from Paul Gast (Fast by Gast), so they must work.
We have a couple of sets here that I should throw on a TZ and use them.

What do you want to know and what bike are you thinking about fitting them to.

I was just wondering why more people don't use them, they seem simple yet you never hear people speak of them.

Why don't more people use them? You could write a doctorial dissertation on that question.

There are many theories:

If Yamaha thought they were better, they would have used them. They didn't therefore they were no good.

Only Kel and Kenny knew how to make them work properly.

Mikuni carbs are just better.

They don't work well.

They are hard to get parts for.

I have heard all of those as explanations and yet many TZ750 riders and tuners still use them. Ask Paul Gast or Rusty Biggley if they work. Paul sells them for all manner of drag bikes and Rusty has set up more of those things than I have had hot dinners. Well you know what I mean.

In reality, very few people change from stock carbs to something else and that was always the case. Today we are spoiled for choices. And to be honest, not many people know how to "jet" correctly with a Lectron.

They are back in production BTW, but don't try to mix old series needles with newer ones - they are quite different.

Kenny knew how to make them work properly.

That may be in doubt, yes the advertising was there, but were the carbs.

I believe that the answer was YES and NO. I think his 250 had them but the 750 did not, but I wouldn't swear to that.

I remembered to ask Tom about them on Friday but couldn't find the post
He said they were useless on road race bikes and only good for drag racing. (he tried them on various bikes for various people)
Early ones had no provision for any mid range running, later ones had a very rudimentary mid range discharge passage but it didn't work very well if you had to shut off then get back on the gas
