LED Brake/tail questions

Ok folks, I found the housing I want to use for a small brake/tail light but after searching the web I've became overwhelmed with information. I need a small bulb and would like it to be about 1 watt.

My questions:
What is the smallest 1 watt bulb that will work with 12 volts?

Can I use a resistor to lower the brightness of the light and have the brake light write running to the same bulb sending the full 12 volts to brighten it for my brake light?

Sorry, I know there is a lot of information out there on wiring different types of leds but my brain already hurts. Haha.

I suggest browsing the site of an LED bulb supplier such as www.superbrightleds.com

Find a bulb that fits your 1W criteria and ensure that the socket matches what is needed by your bike. You can use a resistor to drop the brightness of the running light without affecting the brightness of the brake light by wiring the resistor inline with the wire that handles power to your running light.

Thank you, I will be using a part that's not a tail light for the housing so I'll have to buy a socket too. Need to find the most shallow sucker possible.
