need a quick response if possible

working on a 1978 kz 400 b1

In the process of wiring my new led turn signals need to know if the bike needs to be running for the signals and relay to flash or if the battery hooked up will do it. I cant remember from before i started the project if it blinks when key is on engine is off

thanks

Bike shouldnt need to be running. You will probably need inline resistors though to run the LED lights with your stock flasher...they dont draw enough current for the stock flasher to work properly.

I have the electronic flasher hooked up, and found out the bike did not need to be running. However I am still having some trouble getting the signals to flash separately I tried all kinds of combos in the front. The stock bulbs in the front were dual filament bulbs while in the back they were single filament. Leaving 2 wires and a ground for each side in the front and only one wire for each in the back and a ground for the pair.

the way i have it hooked up right now makes all 4 flash together with a spare wire in front.

Tried all kinds of combos in front to make it work correctly

any ideas?

scotty, does the bike have a single dash indicator for the signals, or one for each side?

If it has a single indicator, it's most likely crossfeeding through the indicator. Try pulling the bulb (or unplugging) from the dash indicator and see if it still flashes both sides.

I got the same problem, but my is on the CX500 I got one for each side? is there anything I can do ? when I turn my key i got one one each side on.

Redbird,

Thanks for the info. It has a single indicator. I'll disconnect it and see if that fixes it in the morning.
