legendsmc on eBay

Wear out, don't rust out.
I recently purchased pair of shocks from legendsmc on eBay. The auction listing showed this picture:

which is exactly what I was looking for. I "bought it now" and paid right away with paypal. The next day he emailed me and said when he opened the box they were black and not chrome. He offered to refund my money if it's not what I wanted. Thinking he must have meant the springs were black, which was fine for me, I said that was ok and he should ship them.

They were described as new but had been removed from the manufacturer's original packaging and came in a USPS prepaid box. The schocks were longer than the actual shipping box and caused the sides of the box to bulge out slightly. I opened them and found these shocks inside:

Which are obviously not the ones pictures in the auction listing. The seller says he does not accept refunds but I wrote him and said what he sent me was different than what was pictured on the auction listing. He said I was wrong about this. At this point I said I was sending them back for a full refund and if did not refund my purchase I would make a claim with paypal and file negative feedback with eBay.

Several times during this process, I've offered to send him photos of the difference but he has expressed no interest in seeing them. This was the complete package which was returned to him at a cost to me of about $40:

As you can see these are nothing more than the cheap Chinese shocks everyone sells for about $85. the seller has said he will issue a refund upon receipt of the package and an examination of the product to see if it's in the original condition it was sent.

I have no doubt he will make some sort of claim that the product is damaged, or not what he sent or something is missing. In the meantime I have filed a claim with eBay and reported a bait and switch switch report with eBay. If my refund is in anyway held up through false statements by him, I will leave negative feed back and escalate the process with paypal.

He has since re-listed the item with the same photograph so I can only assume he is still sellling these cheap shocks at inflated prices.
