Been Around the Block
DTT BOTM WINNER
Hi Everyone,

Well finally I have another project underway. I bought a 05 ct110 "postie bike" from the auctions to take on a trip from Cairns to Cape york and back with 2 of my mates. 2500 km round trip on mostly 4wd tracks in the north of Australia, and yes we are absolutely mental.
Here is a video of that adventure

Cape York Postie Bike Trip 2010

The bike was as I bought it the only thing I did was change the oil and add the tank, front pods and panniers. These little bikes are rated to carry 120kgs, I weigh in at 102kgs and we carried everything we needed for the trip, tent, bedding, food... well you get the drift.

Top speed on these fully loaded is 75 kmh with a tailwind (if your lucky) so they are not fast but fuck the are fun and they just keep going and going.

So after returning home I was working out what I was going to do with this thing when I just started fiddling in the shed... and we all know what that leads to.

Anyway this is the result so far.

That little thing's cool! Wasn't there a small luggage rack behind the seat?

Good to see the 175 is still around too.

Yes there was a luggage rack but it is going to be cut down and a second seat may be fitted to it. The back guard is going to be chopped and a few other things done to it yet. Once you get the modifying bug it's hard to stop...

What a great adventure! I have a '64 trail 90 yet and would be fun to do a trip on. 13 years ago I rode from Iowa to north of the Arctic Circle, down into Alaska and back to Iowa on a $300 FJ600 Yamaha. Seeing your pictures brings back memories. Thanks for posting this. Your two bikes look cool together.

Thanks it was so much fun, these little bikes are amazing with what they put up with. My back wheel looks like a .50c piece from some of the rocks and hollows I hit along the way. Didn't get one puncture though which we couldn't believe.
Get on that '64 and take it somewhere wild it'll love it.

.50c for reference.
