I've been doing a lot of searching regarding this and cannot find a definitive answer. My service manual says to apply liquid gasket to the "portions of the gasket that contact the crankcase mating surfaces." Wouldn't that be the whole gasket? And does that mean to apply it only to the one side of the gasket, so the side that touches the cover itself would be dry?
