"Lizzy" CB350 build

Went through the engine and all is well now. I got it back in the frame today. Engine & frame are painted, I have a nice Allen bolt kit to replace the crappy Phillips head. I just ordered a new wiring harness. I have to rebuild the carbs next. More to come.

Update time -

I have new bushing and bearings to go all around the bike, Thank you allballsracing.com! I am in the process of going through her now and installing. I grabbed a wire kit & Regulator/rectifier from Spark Moto and have been mocking it up for install.

I am being left at home this weekend while the wife is taking the kids to visit her folks Thursday - Monday so it will be a great time to clean the carbs in the house where it is warmer than the snow we are expecting on Saturday.

I am going to attempt to install new fork seals as I really don't want to modify the front and if anyone has any tips aside from buying a one and done fork seal tool that would be great (by the way, if that is the only/best solution then I'll do it).

So far so good.

Re: "Lizzy" CB350 build

I made a little more progress tonight as I installed taper bearings on the steering tube and knocked out the bearings on the wheels and preparation for replacing all those.

lookin real good !!! heat is your friend when knocking out and putting bearings in aluminum housings
250f above ambient temp 300f or so actuall makes a big diff and a lot more difference than just chilling the bearings
and dont worry about getting the bearings hot you cant avoid on removall the key is aluminum grws 2x that of steel
were your wheel bearings bad ? because if they stay clean and dry the originals will last forever they are about one of the most understressed parts of a sickle, they have very littlte load or speed on them compared to their rating
and more harm can be done just swapping them out is why heat and patience is important, let the heat soak dont get in a hurry

an old wheel bearing canm be a handy driver i just put them on the axle thru the wheel to drive them in dead straight, warm up the hub too dont drive them in a cold alloy housing/hub
and spin the old bearing againsrt the grinder to undersize 5 thousandths or so so it doesnt get stuck two ;)
did you get new inner steel sleaves for the swinger n?

I did put new sleaves in for the swinger, and that has been re-installed on the bike.

I felt that the wheel bearings were not spinning as free as they should, that is why I am replacing. I got in there and it was nasty. I am currently cleaning up the hubs really good before I put the new bearings in. I will plan on getting them nice and warmed up before pressing the new ones in, and I can be patient (I have children, I have to).
