Re: Looking for 1971 camshaft!!

It would help a little if you listed your bikes make a model. I have a camshaft for a 1971 Honda Z50 but I get the feeling that is not what you are after.

oo thats my bad, i dont know what what i was thinking thats my bad :( im looking for a 1971 honda cb350 camshaft mine has some pretty suspect damage to it.

You might want to do an upgrade to the top end oiling system. From what I hear CB350s are prone to top end damage from lack of oil.
There is a guide somewhere. I am sure one of the more Honda orientated people will know. Might be in PJ's 360 thread.

It's not as bad as the 360 but the 350s have an issue with the oil ports being smaller than they should be. So... At high RPMs the oil gets "foamy" and doesn't do its job properly. There are a million how to's online showing the ways to fix it.

As far as cams...

Any cam from 68-73 will work. In fact, if you can find a Type 1 cam from 68 it's actually a slight upgrade from the later models which were slightly detuned.

In the end, they made more CB/CL350s than any other bike in the 60s-70s so parts and info are beyond easy to find. Good luck with your project and keep us posted.

awesome, thanks for all the advice guys! although i have some guidance from time to time its not nearly as useful as this forum is proving to be! i shall look into that for sure and get a new camshaft on the way to me. also does anyone have any recommendations for a new cam chain roller / tensioner as mine has perished.
thanks

I think I have a cam from a 73 cb350. Let me know if you want pictures and how much you would want it for.
