Looking for a clearcoat that DOES yellow

Yes, rather odd...but I am looking for a clearcoat that WILL yellow (and hopefully do so quickly) in order to achieve a real vintage look over a silver/greyish base. I know that Minwax Spray Poly will yellow, but it is simply not tough enough for even the most gentle of conditions. Any ideas? Thanks!

Nitrocellulose yellows but not quickly. That's what vintage guitars were cleared in.

Try looking for a candy yellow, and add just a little to the clear.

Why don't you just tint the clearcoat yellow. Would have to experiment to get it right.....

Thanks, guys. I probably should have been more specific. Any ideas on how to create the effect with rattle can products?

Check your local automotive paint supply shop. Many of them have the ability to mix paint and put it right into a spray can. Ask if they can tint a can of clear with a little yellow. You'll probobly want to use a gold tint though.

Try amber shellac from the hardware store.
