Motherwell is a town I have not been to in forever. I'm just great. Thanks for asking. I remember that part of Scotland as being pretty treeless and windblown, but that was a heck of a long time ago. What's it like there now?
I cannot imagine Scotland going it alone in this day and age. I know about the hundreds of years of abuse and the highland clearances etc but it's not easy to start a new currency and join the EU (or not). Create a new taxing authority etc etc. I'd like to see a real economic plan and less of the history. There's probably a role for a regional authority in Scotland but that already exists. Maybe that needs to be re-visted.
The problem with bringing up hundreds of years of history is that people doing it are defining themsleves and their countrymen as victims and as long as Scots do that they cannot be taken as equals because they are defining themsleves as less than equal. If you follow the logic there. Scots have so much to be proud of and play a vital role in the UK and in Europe and what is needed is a vision of how that role can grow and develop.
To me, a lot of the hot air is just a power play by people who want to be in power and has little to do with economics - but so is all politics I guess.
I agree with Teazer, the Welsh Assembly just led to a bunch of layabout 'do gooders' getting paid too much for god know what?
(and the Welsh had 900 yrs suppression by the English)
Tires too bike for the rim or for the bike will have negative handling effects, even at 60mph. The bigger the tire the more power they rob turning them. They will also turn in differently. That's all fine and dandy if you are only going slow and in a straight line but who knows when you may have to make an aggressive move to avoid an idiot or something and you end up in the ditch or hospital.
Forums are not from states, the internet is world wide. there are members from all over the world here and on every forum. Huge tires on Bobbers are for people who just want to look cool but really aren't and have no idea what they are are doing.

Welsh joined the UK in 1535 and Scotland in 1701 which wasn't long before those ingrates in the western colonies revolted with some help from the French. Ireland was 1801 and most of it left in 1921 leaving a group of people celebrating a battle in 1690 as some sort of connection to the UK. History is supposed to be in the past not getting dredged up every time someone is looking for an excuse to wind folks up.
The Welsh were subjugated soon after the Norman Conquest, ring of castles built around South Wales and 'The Marches'.
Wales wasn't officially recognised by Britain until 1947 and the Welsh flag in 1952~53 (I may have that backwards?)
Welsh Dragon flag is oldest known national flag symbol, believed to date from soon after Roman's left. (the Scot's even more unruly, even the Roman's gave up and walled them out )
I wasn't stirring anything, devolution for short term gain is just dumb, (North Sea Oil isn't going to last 'forever')
What is needed is more co-operation and less government, not splitting things up and pretending your self governed.
When I was Mayors Consort I met far too many people who just wanted to 'be on a jolly' and didn't care the 'ordinary' taxpayers were paying for them being on 'official business'
Last time I was 'home' (2012) I couldn't believe just how depressed the place was, Welsh assembly must be doing a real good job? (and I do mean depressed not depressing - reminded me of some parts of Pennsylvania I visited in 2004~5)
Next up, Religion ;D
