Looking for Cafe Riding Jacket.

There is a middle ground. The vintage jacket that I ride with is a really thick, tough leather. Far thicker than the newer leather riding jacket that I have. Also, I take more precaution when I'm going to be going on a more dangerous ride.

For example, if I'm heading out for a ride through Niagara Region, I'll definitely take a full face and the thickest jacket I have. Where as, if I'm just booting up to the beer store I might not wear a full face and I might not wear my thickest jacket. I also wear boots and I always wear gloves. I've never worn a reflective vest.

Perhaps I'm just naive, but I feel that if you're riding a bike...you understand the risk. Part of riding a bike is looking cool and having fun. I find it hard to look/feel good about it if I'm sporting a Joe Rocket. No offense to Joe Rocket guys...it's just not my cup of tea.

What would you have called the jacket? Perhaps your upset because you purchased the gold studded jacket and have a mullet!

I'm upset because your and you're are two different things...

: )

If you're going for a vintage racer look, you might want to check out Schott's Classic Racer jacket. It can take a licking and it has a streamlined, Old School look.

whats up guys.
just thought i would post on this topic.
my self, i was going to go with a nice vintage riding jacket, i have try'ed a couple. fit well etc, but did'nt have any padding
in the right spots. so i went to honda and try'ed on their none leather, meshed jackets. and found that i liked the lightness
of the coat and the fact that the linner can be removed, and most importantly the padding was in the right place..
for me it fit well and i decieded to go with saftey and look rather than just the look..
this is not to say that there are'nt any good new vintage jackets out there with the proper saftey material. its all about what you what and you like.
i agree that riding bikes is about looking cool and having fun, but we need to be safe aswell...
any way good luck with the search.
later.

You could go all Mad Max and rivet in some additional protection.

I'd like to get some quality RAIN GEAR that doesn't make me look like a wank...and is still dry and safe. Anyone got any ideas on that? Last season I got decimated by the weather from Niagara Falls right up to my garage. Of course it was bright and sunny 10 minutes later. Thanks god...thanks a lot.

You could try a Tour master Coaster II, I have been eyeing one myself and they come w/ vents, armor, and a liner for colder days. http://www.tourmaster.com/xcart/catalog/Coaster-II-Leather-Jacket-p-62_5.html

Only if you paint it red and gold, with a Stark Industries logo on it.

I like this a lot. Hard to find though. Only place I could find, it was full price at $500. Seems like you could find it cheaper, and at more than one place.

I found these guys a while back, they have some pretty cheap stuff in their inventory (all namebrand stuff too) and there is even a clearnce rack where stuff is SUPER cheap.

I agree with the being on the practicle side. I live in L.A. and people give me a thumbs up for having an vintage bike, not on the gear I'm wearing. Don't think I have met a girl that goes nuts at the smell of leather either. Also haven't met a girl that digs guys with no skin on their back, heads or tails.

Here is the one I am rocking currently. The whole "patchy" thing kinda turns some ppl off, but I like it. I have 4 cafe racer themed patches still left to put on it

I ended up buying this one. Couldn't find pictures of anyone wearing it, but I think it will work. Only $150, I don't mind selling it after the season if I'm not crazy about it.
