Looking for fresh opinions on headlights

Hello all!
Im looking into a new headlight and was wondering where the opinions of the forum fall.
Standard halogen, HID, or LED? which one has the best "useable" light? What are their strengths? What are their weaknesses? Like I said, I'm looking for some fresh views on the subject.
Thanks guys!

I went with a Xenon bulb for my bike, and it has produced a significantly increased amount of light compared to the old halogen bulb, but it didn't require me to adjust my overall electrical system. More light. Very easy.

I'm using an HID baja truck light, it's bright as shit. Only problem is no high beam, not that I need one

The only concern I have with HID is heat in the bucket? Last I heard those get pretty warm. I might just risk it. Anybody ever have a bucket melt on them?

Ill probably go with the ol' trusty halogen. You can get them for like 10 bucks and that sits well with me...

Depends on what bike...Some of the early bikes really have no excess alternator capacity, so a larger wattage bulbs means dead battery over time....

For instance, a stock CB350 or CB360 has no excess capacity at all. A 55w halogen means your battery goes dead as you ride.....

Guess I should have been specific about what it was for. 78 cb550 is the offender. Im switching to led signals, taillight, and speedo so hopefully that will free up some juice. Eventually an upgraded charging system would be nice. There's actually an electrical shop behind my employer, so maybe I'll have to stop in and see what tricks he's got.
